Aeroframes founder is Wayne Dodds, who has a bespoke picture framing business based in Norfolk (FinelineFrames).
He has had an interest in aviation, mainly the Battle of Britain period for many years, he is also a member of the Battle of Britain Historical Society. Along with his brother he started to visit aviation signing events and visited pilots at their homes having prints and books signed. At this point Wayne started to think about using his knowledge as a picture framer to make a totally new collectable aviation product, so Aeroframes was created.
Wayne then approached a business colleague in Scotland, Alan Wallace. Alan was already producing aircraft models (amongst other subjects), which he had been selling at the Fineline Frames work shop. After discussing the possibilities of commissioning new models, Wayne set to work on the long process of turning the idea into a product.
The first model to be commissioned was a Boulton Paul Defiant. This fighter was chosen because it is often overshadowed by the Spitfire and the Hurricane, the main fighting force during the early part of the war. At the time there were only three Defiant crew that had fought during the Battle of Britain and the Battle of Dunkirk still surviving. Then began the many months of research, finding blue prints, getting the pilots and gunners views on the Defiant and then making the model as accurate as possible with the correct squadron codes and aircraft numbers.
Wayne's idea of a totally new concept in collectable aviation artwork then came to life, and as you can see they are unlike any other aviation collectable that is currently available.
